At Triangle Montessori Academy, we believe music is indispensable to a fun and exciting learning process. Music is integrated to the everyday curriculum at circle time by sharing new songs and dances from around the world. Children also have music twice a week with a music specialist. Consistent with the importance we place on superior musical education, our music specialist is an expert in the Kodaly method. Zoltan Kodaly was a Hungarian composer, educator, and ethnomusicologist. His philosophy of musical education led to a carefully crafted sequential system of teaching. Various pedagogical tools are applied to achieve Kodaly’s vision: that “music belongs to everyone and is necessary for healthy human development”. Each child will have a recorder to play during music class. Children will have lessons on major composers in world history such as Bach, Beethoven, and Haydn. This musical education will be complemented with lessons on dances from around the world.
